Families and corporations across the country choose dumpster rentals to make construction and renovation projects simpler. At EnviroSolutions, Inc. (ESI) we have learned that there are some important rules to follow to make sure that dumpster rentals work for both the client and the company. Not everything is safe to dispose of in a dumpster rental. Some objects pose a health risk to the ESI workers who will pick up and empty the dumpsters, some objects have alternative disposal methods, some are illegal to transport in a dumpster, and some are simply objects that we have agreed not to transport.
The following hazardous and dangerous items shouldn’t be disposed of in one of our dumpster rentals, and alternate disposal methods should be sought for the disposal for these items:
- Batteries, acids, herbal poisons, any toxic liquids or powders, oil, propane tanks, and aerosol cans. Each of these is considered dangerous to dispose of in a dumpster rental and can cause serious harm to the individuals working with them.
- Lamp bulbs. There are alternative facilities to dispose of lamp bulbs throughout the DC-Maryland area. Because bulbs are so easily broken and other facilities dispose of them, we ask that you dispose of them separately from your dumpster rental.
- Any yard waste, old trees, or Christmas trees are to be taken to your local composting station to make sure they get properly utilized, rather than adding to already crowded DC landfills.
- Tires, oil paints, telephone poles, railroad ties, computer monitors, and television sets: we ask that you find another way to dispose of each of these items.
ESI has developed these guidelines to help reduce the environmental impact of dumpster rentals, and to ensure that our services in DC, VA and MD are as safe as they are affordable and convenient.
As you can see, there are a lot of things that shouldn’t be put in a dumpster. We’ve seen our fair share of all of these things in our dumpsters, including some that were truly out there. What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever found in a dumpster or seen someone throw in a dumpster? Let us know.
